Epic FAIL! Ha! Too bad. X-mas tree at the Banyan Tree...poetic injustice. Are you sure the management wasn't Greek? The caliber of service sounds awfully familiar. Another reason (of many) I feel the Greeks and Chinese are long-distance cousins. Oh well, chalk it up to the fact that "you need the sour to taste the sweet" - bad experiences allow you to enjoy the good ones more. As a matter of fact, with the right company (and a sense of humor), experiences like this can be quite entertaining and prove to be memorable nonetheless! Better luck next time. :-)

Actually, the management (or managER) was German or Austrian...

Hmmm...then that explains the x-mas tree but not the poor service. Should call the place: Bavarian Tree - A Taste of the Black Forest in Hangzhou. Includes authentic German-style Chinese cuisine!

Haha Bavarian Tree!!! Sounds like some German knock off in Munich!

These sounds good! The place looks absolutely beautiful!

OMG hahahaa Banyan Tree Hangzhou has improved a lot since. It wasn't THAT bad when i went last fall.
The Chinese restaurant doesn't sound as horrific as you've described, but definitely still needs improvement...

Looks peaceful, I like this kind of towns because they are quiet in the morning, but well i guess chaos can attack in any moment in big cities haha thanks nice post.
